Getting Your Refund
[STUDENT] I’ve heard about the KCTCS debit card from a friend, but what exactly is it, and how do I get my financial aid refund?
[STAFF] In order to receive a refund or disbursement, it’s required that you activate your refund preference at kctcsdebitcard.higheroneaccount.com as soon as you receive your card in the mail.
[NARRATOR] From this website, you can check the status of your card’s delivery by clicking on the “Where’s My Card” link shown here. Fill in the required information on the next page, including your last name and Student ID.
Once you have received your card, you can view a video tutorial on how to activate it from the “View a Demo!” link on this page.
When presented with your refund preferences in activation, you may choose to open the OneAccount, an FDIC insured checking account with no monthly fees. If you choose to open the OneAccount, your card can be used as a debit card. The KCTCS Debit Card is NOT a credit card.
Disbursements to your account will be made within four to six weeks after the start of the semester.
With the OneAcount, funds are available in your account once disbursements are made.
You also have the choice of sending your funds to a third party bank account, such as your checking account, although this option may delay your refunds and take 2-3 business days to reach your bank account.
We suggest that you take the time to explore the other links on this website as well, as they can provide you with more information about your KCTCS Debit Card account. If you have additional questions, you may contact the Financial Aid offices.
