Emergency Medical Technician Jan 26-April 19, 2015. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 5:30 – 9:30 p.m., held at the LVC Extension in Harrison Square. Covers all knowledge aspects of trauma care as outlined by national standards, created by federal guidelines, considered to be the responsibilities of ambulance operations. Involves typical anatomy and physiology, patient assessment, care for respiratory and cardiac emergencies, control of bleeding, application of dressing and bandages; treatment for traumatic shock; care of fractures, dislocation, sprains and strains; medical emergencies; emergency childbirth; burns and heat emergencies; environmental emergencies; principles of vehicle rescue; transportation of patients and general operations of ambulance systems. 6 credit hours. Beginning Guitar with Bill Jones

ACT Prep

Scrapbooking in the Cloud

Wheelthrowing I with Stephanie Martinez

Beginning to intermediate students will learn the skills to use the potter's wheel. Beginners will focus on the fundamentals: centering, throwing bowls and cylinders, pulling handles, and simple trimming and glazing. The class will also encourage participation in the "Empty Bowls" project. This class is the perfect opportunity for students of all levels to learn in a fun, creative atmosphere. Class may be canceled last minute due to low enrollment. Payment is required at the time of sign-up to secure a spot in the class.  Class fee includes 6 weeks of classroom instruction, 8 hours of open studio time, a potter's tool kit, up to 50lbs of clay, use of our class glazes and firing. Maximum enrollment is 8 people.

Organic Gardening Series: Healthy Soils

Regardless of whether you’re growing inside a greenhouse or outside in your garden, every gardener should have a basic understanding of soils and their structure and nutrition make-up. We will investigate the elements that make soil beneficial and why some soils are not healthy. There can be great differences in soils and depending on what you’re growing, it can make the difference between healthy plants or plants that suffer with diseases and insects.

Greens...Beautifully Textured Greens for your Spring Mix

Plant five types of greens in this session including spinach, lettuce, kale, cabbage, and collards. These classic, cooler loving plants can be a joy, yet challenge to grow in our gardens if they aren’t protected by the transitional cold in March and April. We will discuss options for growing them in raised beds or hydroponically and the best way to achieve better drainage and grow healthy plants.

YOGA - Means to Unify with Vicki Prather

The goal of yoga is to harmonize mind, body and spirit through a combination of yoga poses, meditations and breathing exercises.  Yoga is helpful to improve your mood, relieve stress, help in pain reduction, and improve breathing, circulation, strength and flexibility.  Participants will need to wear flexible clothing (i.e., leggings, bike shorts, sports bra/tank, t-shirt).  Yoga is best practiced barefooted.  Participants will need to supply their own yoga mat.  Practice yoga on an EMPTY stomach.  You shouldn't eat 3-4 hours before practicing yoga.

Beginning Spanish

Dog Obedience

Need to control your dog? The goal of this course is to get your dog to come when called, to sit, to stay, to lie down and stay, and to heel properly. The dog must be at least six months old and vaccinations must be current. Please bring proof of vaccinations to the first class. Please do not bring your dog the first night of class. Instructor George Rodgerson has 30+ years of experience training working livestock dogs to herd sheep and cattle, and has competed in sheep and cattle dog trials at the highest level. Register early! ICD-10 Coding

Join Phyllis Wood in this 18 hour update and get a jump start on the many changes coming soon with ICD-10 Coding. ICD-10 is an upgraded diagnostic and procedural medical coding system that, by law, must be implemented throughout the healthcare industry by October 1, 2015. this new coding system is radically different from the version currently in use, so it's important to start preparing for and implementing the massive changes to the existing coding system. Learn how the changes will affect your operations and how to use the new codes. this course is intended for people who currently work in a doctor's office or in a hospital.

Many grasses, succulents, and other types of plant materials require less water and are more practical for our landscapes and gardens. These tips will allow you to grow and increase your use of drought tolerant plants. This workshop is being conducted to support "The Empty Bowls" event.  All bread being prepared will be served at the event on April 18th. Fr. Michael Henderson will conduct the workshop and share secrets he learned while operating his own four start bakery/café in Astoria, Oregon.
