Summer Financial Aid

Year-Round Pell allows students to receive up to 150 percent of a regular grant award over the course of the academic year so they can continue taking classes in the summer and finish their degrees faster. Note: Any Pell Grant received will be included in determining the student’s Pell Grant duration of eligibility and Lifetime Eligibility Used (LEU). 

To be eligible for additional Summer Pell Grant funds the student must:

  • be otherwise eligible to receive Pell Grant funds for the payment period
  • be enrolled at least half-time during the summer semester (6 credit hours)
  • be maintaining satisfactory academic progress

Pell Grant recipients who were not enrolled full-time in either the fall or spring semesters may receive Pell Grant for less than 6 credit hours in the summer semester. Eligibility determination and awarding will be completed by the Office of Financial Aid.   

When will summer aid be awarded?

Summer financial aid is awarded after enrollment. If you are interested in summer financial aid, please meet with your advisor to be enrolled. The Office of Financial Aid will determine your eligibility and post your awards.

First Financial Aid Disbursement Date: June 16, 2024
Second Financial Aid Disbursement Date: July 7, 2024

After disbursements are made on Sunday, refunds will be posted Thursday of the same week.

Can I charge my books for the summer semester?

Yes. Summer bookstore charging dates May 3-June 11.

Can I request a student loan for the summer semester?

Complete the student loan request under the Financial Aid tile on your Student Self-Service beginning April 1, 2024.  You must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours during the summer semester to request a student loan.

Can I get state aid such as Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship, CAP Grant, or KEES scholarship for the summer semester?

Some state award programs are not available for the summer semester including CAP Grant, Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship and the KEES Scholarship. The Early Childhood Education Scholarship and the National Guard Scholarship are available for eligible students.
